Know the local rules first

Wild boar rules vary across Canada. Confirm provincial hunting rules, municipal discharge bylaws, land access requirements, transport rules, and reporting obligations before taking action.

Alberta

Wild boar are regulated as an agricultural pest. Hunting or trapping is restricted to landowners, occupants, people assisting them, or permitted operators.

Manitoba

The province has a wild boar control area and reporting requirements through Squeal on Pigs.

Ontario

Ontario says hunting pigs is illegal. Property protection rules may apply, with immediate notification requirements.

Saskatchewan

Free-ranging or feral wild boar may be hunted without a licence, while safety and land access rules still apply.
