Wild boar are regulated as an agricultural pest. Hunting or trapping is restricted to landowners, occupants, people assisting them, or permitted operators.
The province has declared a wild boar control area with reporting requirements through Squeal on Pigs.
Ontario says hunting pigs is illegal. Landowners or agents may protect property, with immediate notification requirements after capture or kill.
Saskatchewan hunters may hunt free-ranging or feral wild boar without a licence while following safety and land access rules.
Field safety
Wild boar are tough, fast, and dangerous when wounded. Shot placement, cover, backup plans, land permission, and confirming the animal is dead before approach all matter.
